03 HO clutch better than 02 HO?

I have a new 03 HO ctd. It is running great and has about 2000 miles on it. I am now noticing a knocking sound coming from the transmission area when it is in neutral. If I push the clutch in, it goes away and sounds quite and beautiful. If the clutch is out, it still sounds beautiful but is not as quite and is like a knocking sound. Everything is working fine, am wondering if I should be concerned or should take it in. I don't trust my local dealer so the next best dealer is an hour away. A friend thought it may be a throw out bearing but was just guessing. Any ideas, suggestions or previous experiences would be appreciated. Thanks

This has been discussed at great length... try a search on clutch rattle. Mine used to do it too, but after about 7000 miles it quit. I never took it in, and never plan to (unless something on the transmission breaks).

But if it really bothers you, there is a TSB to replace the clutch disk with a new unit with tighter springs.

Thanks for the info. I checked it out and found out I am not the only one with this problem. I appreciate all the info found on these forums. Saves a guy a lot of worry and helps with working on the truck.
