Got a 2010 5500 with 90K miles all stock. Truck started and ran good from the hotel to work. Went in the office for about a half hour, came out and truck sounded like it was knocking( missing). Gave it a little throttle and it died. Tried to restart, nothing. Thought maybe bad fuel, drained canister and put in a new filter. Nothing, just keeps turning over.

Any ideas?

got this exact problem too

fuel/water light lit on dash drained on side of road

drained filter couldnt hear in tank pump running on interstate due to noise

running engine started missing down on power then died wouldn't restart

went 35 miles died wouldn't restart died

towed to dealer,

dealer said tank fuel is bad with water this all happened suddenly?

filter choked,

dealer says all bad injectors $$ doa at dealership 6700. 00 to begin with 5400. 00 to fix that's not happening

towing out from dealer to get home dump tank flush and new injectors

pulling injectors to test, Pensacola injectors 195. 00 with 1 year warranty for 08 6. 7 so far and some new connector tubes corroded on outside still working on this project

Upon inspection of tank ,Fuel in tank was milky watery and was emulsified or in suspension ,dumped all fuel, idiot light on dash was no help went off ,stopped drained on highway ran 25 miles then died completely would not restart towed truck

truck needs better filtration a racor "separator" might be next on the buy list and or fass pump dual filter

beginning to wonder if pumps at station were blending water in as pumped from storage in ground tank ? with no visable filters at pump hose fuel is blended by pump and aerated at nozzle
dropped tank flushed rinsed wiped clean blew out

water in bottom of tank enough but not a lot, particulate matter rust or scale ,a little sugar sand too also in tank ,

in tank pump screen was restricting inlet with looks like metal scale

blew out pump inlet screen with brake cleaner and air many times clean now working with fresh clean fuel

dumped filter on engine contaminated replaced, filled with lucas fuel injector cleaner

restarted ran, rough low power missing

bad injectors

crossover tubes showing corrosion on outsides of tubes wire brushed and buffed clean stayed away from tip surfaces

any help to get # 5 and 6 injector crossover tubes out / gonna have to cut some short wrenches

now tearing top of engine down to have injectors tested egr crossover tube carboned up too 74,000 miles and this happens

new parts coming tomorrow this has become quite a project

check and listen to see if you can hear pump running buzzing in tank fuel pump ? at first I could not, after cleaning I could hear it running,

bad or restricted pickup screen on pump, trash in tank, pull tank and clean, inspect replace pump if necessary I could not,at first , cleaned working now plenty of fuel to filter can now tank came out pretty easily took longer to block truck up in the air than the service task
