Hi Guys,

This is my first time on this forum. Up until now I've been able to get answers to my questions in the TDR mag. But this time I'm stumped and I hope to draw on your expertise to help me. I own a 1996 3500 w/ a five speed. Last month I took my truck on a quick 200 mile trip and when I arrived, the engine had developed a new knocking / clicking noise coming from the area of the injector pump. The loud noise sounds like a loose rocker arm but much fuller and deeper. Yesterday I changed the lift pump just incase the noise was fooling me and was coming from that area, but it was not. The new lift pump did not eliminate the noise. My question, do injector pumps sometimes make a knocking before they fail. Do you guys have any other ideas of what could be causing this noise? The engine is still running fine but I feel this new noise cannot be ignored.

Thanks for you help, Raildawg
