Know where else the 98.5-02 lift pumps reside?

Commercial D.O.T. Inspection Woes!! Must read!!

I was under the hood of a 2001 Mack with a (true) 600 Cummins... it had a electronic Carter liftpump!!!

So we aren't the only one's with the Carter LPs... and the "lift" from that Mack's fuel tank to the engine was a lot further than what we experience!

That engine uses that pump to supply start-up fuel only. After the engine is running, the pump is turned off. There is a gear pump in the covers on the side of the engine that supplies fuel to run the engine.

the 600 cummins is a hpi/tp fuel system. . it has the gear pump that feeds the fuel at 300psi iirc. . ? the hpi/tp is a neat setup. . it gets high fuel pressures in the nozzle [up to 30,000psi] when the cam is forcing the needle back down into the cup. i don't remember there being an electric lift pump on the isx 600 engine we had in the lab at school...

It was running the entire time they were under the hood with the engine running... you can hear it humming.
