About 10 year ago I had my ball joints replaced by what I thought was a reputable shop. Turned out it wasn't a very good one, but that's a different story. My ball joints need replaced again, but this time I'm doing the job myself. I'm still researching, but am leaning towards the carli ball joints. I called the shop a couple days ago to see if they had any ideas on what kind of ball joints may be there now. The guy told me all replacement ball joints are knurled and he uses moog. My research tells me that moog ball joints are knurled and 3 thousandths oversized. My research also showed that the carli ball joints are smooth and 0.5 thousandths oversized. My question is can I put the carli's in a bore that's had an oversized knurled ball joint previously installed?
My truck is a 97 4×4 with manual transmission that's basically stock. It's a daily driver and farm truck which means hauling feed from northern Idaho to coastal Washington several times a year. Truck and trailer gross about 21k on those trips.
