KORE Chase installer Houston/Galveston area?

Anyone know a place that will install it well for me reasonably? If not, how much should a local tech charge? I would try it myself but I don't even have a garage. Also, do I need an adjustible track bar now or will the stock one work for a while (at least until it goes ahead and wears out)?

Thanks for any help.

I can install it for you as well. I have the necessary nitrogen charging equipment. MDW is very capable of handling the install. Have him fill with the shocks with air to get you to someone that can charge them with nitrogen. I called every off road shop and motorcycle shop in the area when I installed mine and couldn't find anyone that would charge them for less than $50. Rediculous. Anything more than $10 is a ripoff. I like trying out different valving and spring rates from KORE, so I am constantly removing and re-installing the shocks. This means I have to charge them on a regular basis so I invested in the equipment.

This is off topic, and for that I sincerely apologize... but...

I'm in houston all this week and am looking for stuff to do at night. . any ideas for me?

Thanks!

Andy

Thanks for the replies. I left a message with MDW already. The instructions with the shocks say they come from the factory with 250psi of nitrogen but KORE specs say 200. Is that right? Can I just reduce the pressure without having to add more? Glad to know I can keep my track bar til it dies.

Heavy Metal- I am in Angleton a few times a month for work so it would be easy to hook up. Thanks for the offer!

AndyMan- Just PM'd you.

Depending on your area:

Taste of Texas is at Beltway 8 and I-10 on the west side of town. Arguably the best steaks in the area.

Hido's is a Japanese Grill in the Willowbrook area. They cook the food in front of you, and it's good.

Dave and Busters is near Richmond and Chimney Rock in the Galleria area.

The Galleria has tons of excellent restaurants like Maggiano's, Post Oak Grill, Cheesecake Factory, Pappa's Steakhouse, Fogo de Chao's, among others.

Downtown there are lots of nightclubs, some swanky, some skanky...

Hopefully others will chime in here.

Fred's probably right. Mine are 2. 5's. Impossible to install from the top without collapsing-impossible to get the spring in place without collapsing when installing from the bottom. Don't try to adjust the pressure with a guage. The resiviors are low volume so the little "psssst" you hear for the split second that you put a guage to it can equql to 10 or 20 psi easy. The most accurate way is to bleed them down a little then attatch your nitrogen equipment to the shock with the regulator set to 200, open the schrader, open the line valve to the bottle, close the schrader after the pressure equalizes, close the line valve, then detach the equipment. I know someone will probably chime in and say it doesen't have to be that exact, so I'm gonna disagree in advance. The valving is designed to work at a specific pressure and a few pounds can make a huge difference. I am sure Kent will agree with me here. If you spend the money on something like this you might as well have it set up the way it was intended to work. Just leave them at 250 for now, it won't hurt anything (may be a tad harsh). The next time you plan on being in the Angleton area let me know and well dial 'em in to 200psi. Won't take two minutes to do all four. No big deal at all.

I'm an idiot. It was the Chase I bought and not the Pace. The shocks are 7100s and the springs just arrived a couple of hours ago! Can't wait to get it all installed.

Thanks for the response! I hated to hijack the thread, but was curious what to do around town. I am in the mariott off westenheimer near the toll road...

Thanks again, I'll check that stuff out. The wilder the better! :)

gradylaw, you can get the 7100's on without discharging the nitrogen. I've done enough installs to know that firsthand.

The shocks are 2 inch bodies, so you can slide the springs up into place with the shock already mounted. The instructions are very clear on the procedure.

AndyMan: You could come down to the shop and I could put you to work :D

Seriously though: There is also the Kemah Boardwalk.

Just in case that was overlooked in my last post (means I stand corrected in case that wasn't clear enough for anyone). My first set were 2 1/2" Kings (original T-Rex system) and my latest are 2 1/2" Bilstein weld tops. The instructions for these were very clear as well. Amazing, huh? Who would've thunk. Anyway. Gradylaw, I will be assisting Micheal with your install Tuesday morning and I don't know if you are dropping your truck off or waiting on it, but if the latter is the case you are welcome to drive mine while we work on yours. Just don't hammer it too hard-the head was o-ringed just last week (thanks Micheal!) and probably needs a couple more re-torques. In any case-look forward to meeting you next week.

I really appreciate all the help! I guess we are doing the installation on Wednesday as Tuesday I have an appointment I can't change. Borrowing your truck Heavy Metal won't be necessary as I have a backup jalopy though that is a most generous offer. I also plan to watch and learn since I am such a rookie about this stuff. I'm stoked about getting it working and looking forward to meeting you guys. Finally after 3 and a half years and 70k+ miles, this will be the beginning of a BOMB'd truck!
