I have a 01 2500 ex. cab short box that i want to lift enough to fit a 37-13. 50-20 tire/wheel setup:cool:. Does anybody have a Kore recon kit on their 98. 5-02 truck? If so what size tires can you run? I tried to call Kore and e-mailed them but they havent responded#@$%!. I was quoted on a RevTec 6" lift but heard of guys having problems towing. I need some honest info n heard the Kore lifts are very good. I mostly drive on the street but drive in the sand dunes on the weekends n drive the gnarly roads to the Oregon coast.

I have the Recon kit on mine, can't really help on the max tire size, I am still running stock, did the install myself, wasn't that hard, just went slow and careful, you will need some monster coil compressors to get the front springs in though!! I really do like the way the truck sits right now, nice and level, and just a little lifted. I didn't really see any ride improvements that the kit promised though, just as stiff and harsh as before. I do have the old style springs though, I believe that the new ones are the "progressive " style springs, maybe they are better than the old ones.

You will want 8" to properly clear those tires. I started with a Revtek 6" but had heavy rubbing when flexing the suspension. This is on my 3rd gen so I am not sure of the difference between the 2nd gen.

If you change the control arms with ones like I ordered from Top Gun Customs. They will make custom length arms at a reasonable price, I think I paid about $250. I can get you the lengths I used. They also offer 3'' progressive lift springs. You will need to find wheels you like with the correct offset, mine are 18x9 with 22mm offset and 6. 12 backspace. I have Weld wheels and they changed ownership. I dont know if they are still offering that offset. I also used the progressive leaf pack that replaces the overload leaf and installed air bags for towing. E-mail me if you would like the control arm lengths. Sam

I have heard some good things about the Carli kits. Lots of $$$ though. Along with the 2. 5-3 inch lift and control arms, I would cut the fenders out. You should only have to cut them a little at the bottom of the wheel well. If done properly, no one would know the difference. If you lift the truck 6-8 inches, you can forget about towing anything heavy. You will look like a sidwinder on the deserts of Navada.

37x 13. 5x 20 is not the best off road size. They don't give you enough side wall flex. Off roader's "rule of thumb" is that you want your sidewall to be at least 50% of your overall tire hight. That means you would need at least a 40" tire to run a 20' wheel. Or run an 18" or smaller wheel with 37" tire. This is very important off road and on sand dunes where you need to air down the tires to stay afloat. Now that said, that tire size will give you a little more stability while towing due to less sidewall flex. Idealy, it would be nice to have a set for off road and one for towing. Best of both worlds. Also I would only go with forged on wheels that tall. Cast just isn't strong enough for that big of a wheel. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks for the input guys, I was talking with my buddy who owns a repair and performance shop n he can get me a pretty good deal on a Carli 2. 0 kit that is said to fit 37"s. Is that better than a Kore?

To fit 37s you will need longer control arms to recenter the front axle, . 5" longer I believe. Carli makes good stuff thats for sure, I just put on my carli coils and love them so far, the ride is still a bit harsh however. I am blaming that on the stock monroes I still have, waiting for my Bilstein 7100s still unfortunately.
