I suspect that this increased height is to accomodate additional travel. Seems I recall another thread with something along the lines of "... more travel than your MX bike... " The Lorenz kit that I went with will get a genuine 10" of travel with only 2. 5" of lift thus keeping the center of gravity lower at the same time. I wonder if KORE is finally trying to appeal to the offroad crowd (meaning trail driving, mud bog, rock crawl, etc. ) - 3. 5" lift 37's they may be able to compete with Skyjacker/Rancho/Fabtech soon. :-laf

JOBLENES hows the Lorenz suspension? did you get every thing(springs, shocks, leaves, and towers)? i am waiting on my megacab(ordered on 11-05) to be delivered and want to make an educated decision when i purchase my new suspension upgrades.

You weren't serious were you? :D

Says on the website they might race Dakkar. I'd like to see a webcast of the race from a driver cam mounted on the ceiling pointing out the windshield.

When I dig myself out of this hole I'm in, I'm going to seriously consider that Ultimate Race system. I bet it's north of $5K though.

I am just dying to get it installed but I have not had a chance yet. I am actually doing a few other mods at the same time and I am still waiting for other parts so I probably won't get a chance for a couple more weeks. I am hoping nriver will do a write-up and review on the Lorenz group buy thread. One thing I will say is that the SAW shock are impressive, you really do not get to appreciate things like those until you hold them in your hand. I have already taken mine apart just to have a look see, wow, they are well built. These will be the last shocks that I ever buy for this truck I am sure.

Well I was sort of serious, I did use the smiley after my original quote to minimize offending the Kore fans, but I honestly wonder if there is not some truth to it. If you look at recent offerings from Fabtech, Superlift, etc. you will notice that they are getting, or are well into, the high end shock market. There are also a lot of folks who have been passing over the original Kore system because it does not offer enough lift for them, there are a few threads that have been along these lines on TDR, most recently this post by KMerritt

Been gone from the sight for a little while and get back and see that KORE is coming out with a performance lift that is more than 2. 5". I must say that I am stoked. I wanted one of their kits, but need more chassis clearance for mud and rutted out trails that are everywhere we are trying to go off-road and with our ATV's.

It would seem to me that expanding the market covered by their product line would be a smart business practice (whether this is their business intention or not), sort of a cross-over product that can be used by both the speed crowd and the offroad crowd. It will be interesting to watch all of this play out, I know Kore has worked hard on their market differentiation to try and set them apart from other suspension vendors, but it will be exciting to see the market develop as other companies start to offer similar products.

I do not mean any offense with this post these are just rumminations on the very interesting market that has been develloping in vehicle suspension. As truck owners this is great thing for us.

On a technical note I wonder at what point Kore will start to truly modify the suspension goemetry. At some point the angle of the control arms will become steep enough to adversely affect the ride. I would be curious to know how steep the control arm angle is on the new Kore system with the suspension at full droop, especially with so much lift and long travel shocks. This is the reason that other suspension companies start to include brackets for the upper control arm on the axle and/or long arm kits.

I was just looking at all of the good stuff you get with Kore's new ultimate race kit and I noticed that the pitman arm is not there. In the original photo that was posted on the other thread there was a pitman arm included (I am assuming a drop pitman arm). I thought that was weird since there was no track bar relocation bracket provided and they would have induced bump steer. It would appear they decided to ditch it, but it begs the question whether or not they are getting into the realm of lift where this geometry issue is becoming a factor.

The only reason I point this out is that I had designed a lift for my '01 1500 and went through all of these issues in fairly excruciating detail to make sure I got it right and at 3 to 4 inches of lift things start to get "less than ideal" pretty quickly. Now add on long travel shocks and things get even worse for more or less stock suspension geometry.

Not to hijack the thread, but since I was mentioned.

I will put up a review in a few days.

Still getting my truck back together from a bunch of different projects.

There is a pic of my install in the group purchase thread and readers rigs, I think I put one there.

Last I heard we were going to have a fair friendly campout "face off" in Glamis the weekend of the 4th with TDR members there as witnesses. Greg Boardman was even going to bring Carne Asada for the BBQ that LORENZindustries was throwing for everybody. We even changed the date around to accommodate everybody and now I hear somebodies back stepping and wanting to steer clear. What is this? The Little guy is stepping up to the plate, how about it guys... ?

No excuses here Greg... I will have my camper in tow, My BBQ will be warm, and you will have a cold Corona on me waiting for your arrival. Please Bring your Ultimate Kit, I'd like to take on everything the competition has to offer!!

I'm publicly calling out the competition with may Direct Bolt on System that I sell to the public for $XXX. :-laf (Ok so I stepped up the compression valving in the front to . 015. **Notice I'll tell you guys what I'm valved at. **) There isn't any other add ons like Hydro bumps, longer harder durometer bumpstops, reinforced front axels, full leaf Kits, Dual rear shocks, 3. 0 series shocks...

I'm running our Towers with a HD coils, Mini packs, and 2. 5 series Remote Reservoirs in the suspension dept. I'm thinking about pulling my Volumizer out of storage from under my seat. It's patiently been waiting there for my odometer to turn 100k miles, and my warranty to run out. ;)

I'm usually a bit more humble about these things but If it's going to take a "calling out post" to get everybody into Glamis dunes for a showdown, then so be it. :)

Who would have thought a bunch of knuckleheads with 8000lb trucks would go pound sand and enjoy it :-laf :-laf :-laf

Glamis watch out here we come :D

Bob

Sean,I will try to remember to bring an EZ for your truck so you don't have to go below and plug in the sensors for the volumizer, not quite as much power but a lot quicker install

Matt S is your wife as excited as you are?

I wish I'd known about this "Glamis Outing" I'd be there in a SnAp! Only trouble is I left the KORE truck back in WA, and drove back down here to AZ in a stinkin' car.

I don't think the Caddy would like the dunes too much :D !

Hey Guys,

Glad to hear that everyone is going to play in the sandbox this weekend. I regretfully have to admit that I will not make it. It isn't because I'm Skeerd or anything, I have made many open invitations to come out and mosh, but we are working this weekend.

Kent Kroeker and I will be racing at the Parker 425 this weekend. It is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Race day is Saturday but we usually don't make it back until Sunday afternoon.

Now Now!!! Don't hate me for being beautiful! I know that I have a horrible job and the Boss at DRC is a jerk! But while you kids are out playing in the sand box... ... . The Men will be Racing!!! :{

If I have it in me to come on Sunday, I will be there early to show you how we do it in the LBC!!!

"Why bring a Knife to a Gun fight, if you can ditch the fight all together. "

I can't let you get off that easy.

We planned this more than a month and a half ago and you were "in". We changed the dates around to accommodate everybody and now 3 days out you suddenly have a race?

I think somebodies got to the end of his leash and is now being reigned in. Greg your a nice enough guy, you seemed pretty stand up, and a straight shooter, but to bail out 3 days before you have to "put up or shut up" would call everything your company has put together into question.

Now I would understand you bowing out when you were first invited, but to say "Sorry guys, I'm beautiful" 1 month later, just before your put to the test against other products, seems... . well... . ________. You can fill in the blank.

Let's do this... You in Big Red, Kent and the Race truck, and Me, this Thursday night before your race, behind the Glamis store. I pick the set of whoops for a 300 yard Drag race across 1-2 ft whoops. $1000 gets you in, Winner takes all to his favorite charity.
