My brother's 92 diesel has a fuel leak which seems to be coming from the small steel line (looks like it rubbed on a bolt) that runs from the KSB forward and over the top front of the injection pump.

There is a bolt or fitting with an odd shaped head at the upper end of the line. I believe we can remove the bolt/fitting with either a 10mm crow-foot or a Weatherhead socket.

Is there anything special we need to be aware of when removing this line? Anyone suggest a source for a replacement line?

Thanks, Jack Dancoe

You may want to souce Bosch, via a dealer. That funny looking head/bolt is the relief valve/overflow. It regulates case pressure (inside the housing)

It has many O rings on it.

KSB line... O rings

Can that KSB line O rings be serviced separately? Anyone know the part numbers of the multiple O rings. How about any special instructions to get 'er done? I see some sepage on mine after putting some injector cleaner in the fuel system. Thanks in advance to all who contribute;)

The O rings are better off obtained from BOSCH from the seal kit. Individual O rings? Like from NAPA?

Do you feel lucky? I'm not saying they won't work. It would have to be exact. And I don't know what the new style O rings are supposed to be comprised of. Would the NAPA be the same formula... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... ????

How do you remove the valve? The top threads out and the line in under the top, sandwitched between the top of the "bolt" and the case. There are several o rings there. I don't remember how many, I'd have to look to be sure.

Inside that "bolt" is the valve. The "bolt" is the valve body that threads into the case. The assy at the top that your looking at is a banjo fitting.

You need either Viton or Buna o rings to be compatable with diesel fuel.

Most o rings you'll find will be Buna, which will be fine.

Just make sure the are not EPDM material. Those will swell in very short order and leak. Don't ask me how I know this. Also Silicone is a no no.

If you wanted to be 100% sure you could soak the o rings in diesel fuel for 24 hours. If they do not swell then they will be fine.

(We used to do this for a customer because our company mixed up some seal materials some time in the poast. Soaking was a short term fix until the seal manufacturer could color code the material. So this does work. )

Thanks, fellas, for the advice/help. We will look into the repair shortly. Also, Jim found out that it seems to leak only when the KSB is energized. He unplugged the electrical connector and the leak seems to have stopped. Does this make sense? Jack Dancoe
