Once again the TDR pays for itself.
My starter was hanging intermittently, occasionally blowing a fuse. Found a TDR thread saying it was likely worn contacts and that FixinRams.com sold a rebuild kit with new contacts and a plunger.
For half the price of a tank of fuel, I rec'd the kit Priority Mail, with an instructional DVD (for wrenchdummies like me). Total R&R time was less than two hours. Kit installed exactly as described, and now it starts perfect. Should be good for another 175k miles...
Lucky for me my son has a long skinny strong arm for reaching the top starter bolt. Other than that and getting a little greasy, we did pretty good. A lot better than a whole new starter, or hiring the job done...
Thanks Pete - I'll be in touch when I need the alternator or vacuum pump kit as well. TDR folks, this guy deserves your business.
