Put the Mag-Hytec diff cover on my Ram on Friday night and it went on without a hitch, except for when I went to torque the bolts - did not have the required 6MM hex head so I thought I could get away with another (SAE) hex that almost fit. Negative. ;-( Messed up a few of them before I gave up and went to the store for the proper hex head bits. Contacted Mag-Hytec the following day (Sat) and told them my sad story and they shipped me new bolts! Arrived yesterday (Monday). Wow. Replaced the damaged/stripped bolts last night. Talk about good customer service. Awesome. Figured I'd compliment them here. Kudos to Mag-Hytec.
 
Be sure to use the torque specs they supply. The stainless bolts are a bit under grade 8.8 (grade 5 on the SAE scale). If you really want to tighten the bolts to 22-25 ft lb like some people do, get grade 12.9 allens, but they can rust.

I torqued them to the recommended torque (I used 15 ft.lbs)

From install instructions:
Using a 6MM hex bit and 3/8 drive torque wrench, torque the stainless allen cap screws to (12-16 ft.lbs.) in a “crosstight” pattern
 
I hope that they recommend using Loctite as I have read a couple of threads where these small, low torque bolts holding the diff cover on are loosening up and backing out.

I had that happen to my front cover, several times. I contacted, email, them about it multiple times and never got a word back.

I shot them another email about this (and gave them the thread link). I will keep checking the torque once a week to see if the bolts loosen up at all. I did not use loctite and don't recall the directions calling for its use.

I use red loctite on just about everything on my truck...well maybe not the wheel well liners..lol.

I had to use Loctite on my Mag Hytec transmission bolts as they would constantly back out. I think I went back to the stock pan and handed the Mag to the buyer of my '98.5.
My rear diff cover has been flawless. Never backed out or leaked.

I have had no issues with my trans pan. I had had it for about a year and replaced the solenoid a month or so ago and did a trans service, so I had to drop the pan and the bolts were all still tight.
 
I had front, rear and transmission pans on my '97 and '06. I put them all on hand tight, never torqued them, and never used Loctite. I actually used Never seize on the transmission bolts. Not one bolt was ever loose or backed out. Guess I got lucky!

I'd use blue loctite. Otherwise you risk breaking the bolts or rounding out the heads when trying to remove them. People who get away with the red generally haven't cleaned and degreased the threads enough for it to really bite.
 
You know I ALWAYS clean the threads on both bolt and nuts and/or tapped holes and I have NEVER had a problem removing red loctite. I only use the red so I only need to keep on ebottle around. Maybe next time I'll try the blue, but like I said, NEVER hada problem removing red loctite in all sorts and sizes of nuts.
 
I installed a MagHytec trans pan on my 2013 and am VERY happy that I did. Trans temp's are 10-20 degrees cooler on a hard hard mountain pass with the trailer loaded.. Have not rechecked the pan bolts yet, will do that when we get back home from Nevada.

I noticed a similar drop. I also recently installed the Dieselsite Transmission filter (external filter mounted on frame rail) and noted another 10-20 deg drop in trans temps. This is unloaded and not towing, mind you, but I would expect to see this continue when towing since the filter acts as another cooler.
