has anyone run KYB shocks in their trucks? they make a monotube shock that seems to get pretty good reviews, and the cost is nowhere near a bilstein.

any thoughts?

I had them on a 1979 bronco with 40 inch tires and a big lift back in the early 80s. 2 on each side of the front and singles rear. They were a great shock that took a severe beating unlike the ranchos of that era that didnt stand up. I have always thought the kybs would be good choice for our heavy front ends. Who has a decent price on them? Mabey ill try a set

I've had them for about 5 years nows, can't say anything bad about them. When I bought I ordered the heavy duty ones, drove it for a week it about beat me to death (rears) took it back and had them put regular ones on the back, kept the heavys on the front, that would be my recommendation if you run empty most of the time like me.

They're good shocks but as noted, sprung on the rough side. I ran them on a ferd 4x4'460v8 back in the 80s when they were very popular. They made the truck handle well but it was as Dad said, "a real butt buster!" :-laf

looks like they have three type that fit a 4wd 2500 third gen. low pressure, high pressure and one just for suv's?

I have run the high pressure type back in the 80's. Not sure what I would do now.

KYB's

I had them on my '85 Toyota 4wd. KYB stood for "(sp) Can you bounce"? Of course any truck with 1" of spring travel will beat you to death.
