Does anyone know of a good travel website?

Fifth Wheel misshap

Does anyone have any experience with this brand...

Fibreglass sides and wood construction from what I can determine.

Interested in long term over the road durability and any direct experience good or bad.

Any input appreciated (already wrote this up once but went to preview post and it disappeared?) Hope I didn't double post:confused:

Love our 33 foot 5er. Bought it new in May 06. Has all the stuff we could want in a toyhauler, has been reliable, and fairly easy to maintain. Only thing negative I would mention is the fit and finish of some of the interior stuff. Nothing that makes it a show stopper. It's simply a "you get what you pay for" situation. KZ makes higher end models which might have a better fit and finish, but you'll pay up to double for it. Doesn't make sense to me. We've hauled ours from CT to SD and back in 10 days. The thing didn't skip a beat. We also do quite a bit of dry camping with it and it is able to give us anything we need.

Ours has the aluminum exterior, but I think I heard somewhere that they went to all fiberglass a year or two later-not sure. We were given the option to have the nose fiber instead of aluminum, but the dealer pointed out that the aluminum is much easier to replace in case of damage than the fiberglass would be to repair.

Overall, it's a good, solid camper. Nothing fancy like the 45 foot bus campers you see cruising the highways, but then that's not what one buys a toyhauler for. Plan for dirt, grease, etc. and you'll be fine. Since we've only had it for 3 years, I'm not sure how much I can speak to longevity, but so far so good.

Thanks for the input Ken. (This is not a toyhauler)

Through email direct to KZ , I received a brochure for the 07 model year and some good information. It is aluminum framed body if it is fiberglass... good to hear.

Not a lot of manufacturers answer email in a timely fashion or at all for that matter any more.

I just assumed it was a toyhauler because KZ is widely known for it. In fact the majority of the ones at my dealership were haulers. Bad assumption-sorry. Still, they are constructed the same way. There are a few options I would recommend, though, if you have the choice. We were able to order it with an extra fresh water tank and that helps tremendously when dry camping. Don't know if they offer that option on all models. Also, the standard 6 cubic foot fridge is a bit tiny, so see if you can get the 8. This holds true for the 6 gallon water heater as well. You can have them put a 10 in there. Of course it will be a bit extra $, but if you don't do it and then decide you want it later, then what?

It was easy for us to order these things because our dealership encouraged its customers to factory order exactly what they want rather than buy off the lot. This makes the customer happy and keeps the dealer from having to have tons and tons of inventory on the lot. He said the KZ factory is usually willing to do just about anything a customer wants, even if it is not on the order sheet/options list. He was right. The 10 gallon water heater was nowhere to be found in our paperwork, but I had the dealer ask anyway, and KZ was happy to do it. I suppose each dealer is different, though, and you might be buying off the lot. In this case see if the dealer has one with some of these other features. Either way, I'm sure you'll like it.

Good luck.
