Hey Gents',

I noticed a popping sound today, and have heard it before when entering and exiting the truck (clue #1). It seems to be more pronounced now. Although now, it's more of a creaking sound. It SEEMS to only occour when turning the wheel left to right or right to left. It's QUITE Loud. I can hear it with both the truck running, and stopped.

Recently I did the RevTek puck install. I need to go back and make sure that every bolt is snugged back up to torque spec again. At first, I thought track-bar, but now I am thinking maybe it's the steeringbox?

Any suggestions, help, part numbers?

Thanks,

Andy

I would suspect the tie rods are seizing up. With somebody else turning get under there and try to locate which one. Then try rotating or pivoting it to see if it changes. I've seen where you can't even pivot it was seized so bad. Good luck.

Mike.

I had a similar noise on my truck. It turned out to be the steering box. The noise was loud enough to be embarrassing driving into a campground. It sounded like an old tinlizzy pulling in. I had a feeling that the bearings were set up to tight or something. There have been some steering box failures on these trucks. The problem on my truck was more pronounced once things were warmed up from a trip and a lot of steering action.

Yep, that's exactly a description of the way mine is acting. anybody got a good link for a reasonable price on the unit?
