Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) lack of power?

My 01 seems to have developed a problem. While driving along at 55-65... rpm's at 1300-1600, there seems to be a dead spot in the throttle. I have to put it to the floor to get it to do anything. Has anyone had this problem? Can't give you any guage info. . not installed yet .

Without gauges to see what the motor is doing it makes it tough. It almost sounds as if the TPS might be dirty, corroded or dying.

Mostly ruled to the cause of the transmission not down shifting @ 55-65 under heavy throtle even WOT and still it lags

It has been delt with in the past by just hitting the OD off when acceleration is wanted at these speeds
