Lacking a wide eye??

This is just a general question. Why doesn"t Dodge put a wide angle mirror on the passenger side of the 3500"s? It really gives you tunnel vision when your trying to look down that side of the truck. I thought it was unsafe and I replaced mine with a wide angle one. I thought it was a rip,but it's a lot safer now changing lanes, especially with the camper in the bed at 70 MPH.

A lot of people don't like the wide angle mirrors for towing because it is hard to judge distance to know when it is safe to change lanes, or just to back the trailer. Dodge just recently changed the mirrors on the heavy duty trucks for that reason. I would rather have the flat mirror and add a small curved one.

Crazy Horse,we should of got together,I just replaced my wide angle for a regular,only $12 though. I prefer a real mirror,not one from a fun house.

I agree. The wide angle mirror was a pain. The 2001 3500 I now have, has the plain mirrors on each side but each has a corner that contains a spot mirror. Works great as you get the best of two worlds.

Are you guys saying that the recently built trucks are now coming with a normal flat mirror on the passenger side? Is that with the trailer towing mirrors,or the regular power mirrors? I have the regular power mirrors(Mikey Mouse ears),and having the convex mirror on the passenger side is a pain in the a**!
I have no problems putting a trailer anywhere,but I hate backing one at night since I have limo tinted windows(it makes it worse). I want a flat miror!

My 99 has the flat mirror. I much prefer it, but the new ones with part of the mirror being curved does look like the best of both worlds... may try one of those stick-on rounds in the corner of my flat to test it.

Mike, glad to hear you can put a trailer anywhere... I assume that means even in the correct county??!!

Ditto on the funny mirror. Let that for the toy trucks. I tried a stick on curvex but did not get the results that I wanted so I added a 4" curvex with a stand off post. The choice of places to hang it are limited but it gives me the views that I need.

I was glad my 99 came with the flat mirrors, I really hate looking through those "objects are closer than they apear" carnival mirrors and I otta send DC a thank you letter for not stickin' me with 'em!
