Does anyone know what the lamp out indicator is trying to tell me. I looked at all the lights and all seem to be working, turn signals, flashers, reverse lights, etc

Thanks

it works for high and low bean headlights, turn signals front and back, brake lights and reverse lights. It may also work for the top center brake light.

Could the license plate lights be part of the system?

The lamp out indicator looks at current flow to each bulb..... There has been a problem with corrosion between the bulb base and the socket..... this high resistance can change the current flow and turn on the lamp out indicator... .

Check with your auto parts store and get a tube of dielectric grease, clean the socket, and the connectors on the bulb, grease them and re-install... . I'm guessing you'll find the lamp out indicator will go out... .

I have 3 of these trucks and had to do this to all of them.....

It's trying to tell you DC used a plastic base bulb for the tail/brake lights. When they heat up and get bounced around enough, the little connection wires (is this REALLY an improvement over the old round brass base bulbs?) get recessed into the plastic so the contact is inconsissent.

Run to your auto parts store and get replacements that are glass on the bottom instead of the plastic. (still has plastic, but the glass extends thru it)

same thing happened to me turned on flashers . lights and everything worked . than one of my buddies was following me and said my drivers brake light was out, the brake lights up on the top bulb and the flashers light up on middle bulb so thats why i couldnt tell checking them by myself. so get someone to hold brake while you look.

The sockets themselves have been improved and tend not to overheat the bulbs enough for the wire on the bulb to melt into the plastic of the bulb. Buy the new socket and you will be good to go for many miles.

Bump! I am having the same problem but it just started after installing my brake controller and when I have my trailer harness plugged in. I could care less that the indicator is on and all my lights are still working but that isn't the case. It is constantly 'dinging' because it won't lock in and stay on. I finally had to pull off the highway and remove a whole taillight assembly so the damn thing would lock in. This only happnes when I am towing and with my new brake controller that I just installed. Dodge, as usual, told me the only thing it could be, "a change in the resistance in the lamp circuits". Is there a way of completely disabling this function in the ECM? I don't need to be told when I have a lamp out, hell the police will do that for me. ;)
