I had bright boxed installed for quite a while and finally took them out. I always got a lamp out warning when I started the truck and had to switch the lights on and off to clear it.

Now, I am running "stock". It was a joy. Then I got the phantom chime. Finally now, I have a constant lamp out. Only problem is that I have no lights out.

Any suggestions:

a) What is causing it that I can fix.

b) Is there a way to disable the lamp out altogether.

Thank You in advance.

I can't comment on disabling the lamp out feature, but check your tail light bulbs. There have been quite a few folks reporting that some subtle and undetectable flaw in either one of the tail light bulbs itself or the socket causes the lamp out.

Check the turn signals too.

I'd pull both tail light assemblies, remove all the bulbs, clean the sockets, then reinstall the bulbs. Then, if the problem continued, I'd replace all the bulbs (even though they appear functional).

Most likely it is the strip that holds the taillight bulbs. They are notorious. Replace the strip, and the problem will likely be solved.

I had this problem when I installed the flatbed with LED lights on my '03. I got so damn disgusted with the "lamp out" crap that I decided to hunt down that annoying dinger thing. It is soldered in place on the back of the gauge cluster. I simply popped it off with my pocket knife. No more annoying dinger when I want to listen to the radio with the door open and no more dinger when the "lamp out" thing flashes, which it does often. I can ignore the message on the dash but hated that damn dinger!! I went from hating to drive the truck to loving it by getting rid of that stupid thing!
