I have been chasing the source of a lamp out indicator light that keeps appearing on the dash with an annoying ding accompaning it for a couple of weeks. I originally thought it may be the license plate light, now I am suspicious that it is a short somewhere or a grounding issue as the lamp out light just flickers on an off with or without my headlights on.

Question: will the dealer be able to tell what the source of this indicator light is?

Same thing happend to me. I read on a couple different threads about the rear lights having a faulty circuit board. So I told my dealer that and he replaced them both and no dinging since. Man the lamp out and dinging got old real fast

JJ, the Search button is your best friend :)

There have been dozens of threads on how to fix the lamp out issue. I'm sure you'll find exactly what you need with a quick search. If not, feel free to PM me.

Good luck!

I know of 3 instances (including my truck) that it was a bad bulb in the left rear tail light assy. I don't know if it just a coincedence or something about the left rear housing causes them to go bad first. I had a difficult time seeing the bad bulb. When I figured out which one it was, I replaced it and the warning went away. Good luck.

Mine was the right rear. The bulb never went bad, it was just loose in the socket until it finally burned the contact on the bulb.

I had the same problem! Go to your dealer and he will change out you tail light circuit boards and problem solved all under warranty! Not hard to fix but real hard to put up with! GETR DONE!
