I keep getting a "Lamp Out" warning and chime on my dash. None of my lights are out though.

It isn't smart enough to know that a lamp is about to go out, is it?

It's pretty annoying. It will go on and off while driving down the road. Doesn't seem to matter if my lights are on or off.

The truck's over a year old, does DC still warranty things like that?

I would hope that the 3/36 warranty would cover any lamp issues. Sounds like a bad connection, loose ground or module getting ready to go.

Well hello to all members. Im a newbie and this is my first post but here is the answer i believe you were looking for

8-004-03 All Electro mechanical instrument cluster (MIC) erroneous indicator lamps.

Three conditions have been identified which may be caused by communication errors between the electro mechanical instrument cluster (MIC) and other electronic modules on the vehicle. 1. An intermittent false “Check Gauges” on diesel engine equipped vehicles. 2. An intermittent false chime and “Low Wash” indicator. 3. A “Trans Temp” indicator on a manual transmissions equipped vehicle.

This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the MIC with new software.

Hmmm. Doesn't sound like the symptoms match the recall.

The owners manual said it's due to "a defective bulb or wiring". Very helpful indeed.

I wonder if there's a code in the computer that clues you into the location of the error? Maybe one of those AutoZone diags could tell me.

I HATE turning my truck over to the dealer, in case you couldn't tell

It seems to me that in the very latest issue of TDR I just got in the mail yesterday has the service bulletin on this exact issue. It has to do with the connection in the tail light area.

You are correct!

My wife was following me home the other night and noticed one of my brake lights was flakey.

I removed the tail light assembly, checked all the bulbs and they were OK. I sprayed all the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, made sure everything was snug, and now it's gone.

Dodged the dealer bullet on this one ;-)

Thanks guys.

I have had this tsb performed and it does not fix the light bulb problem. I have also taken the tail light apart and checked it out and I still have problems. Now it goes off every few days. I suspect there is a problem with the gray plastic piece that holds the bulbs. All of my bulbs are fine and the plug reads correct, but for some reason the bulb does not recieve the signal.

If not mistaken theres a known problem with the grid/strip in the taillight's. Was told a tsb. Also some folks have just cleaned the lite corrosion off bulbs and greased bulbs and that took care of it.

Well was on my way back from pennsylvania and was running good till i came to terra haute in. Thats when my lamp out started flakin on and off like there was a short somewhere. Everytime i tried to pull over the lamp out wouldnt be illuminated. So i guess ill take it to the dealer and find out wtf. Oh and wow is that ever annoying 400 miles of dinging.

After 30 miles my truck also reported "Lamp Out” intermittently. The left turn signal would blink rapidly and then the “Lamp Out” signal would light.

The bulb in the front headlight assembly appeared to be okay but on closer inspection, one of the filaments was missing. Replaced it for $2. 69 and its been trouble free since.

I had this happen to me at about 19000 miles. It gets progressively worse as time goes by. for me the fix was to pull the rear left brake bulb (center one I think), and put a new one in. Costs about $5 and you don't have to try to get a dealer to fix it.
