Keep getting a "lamp-out" dash light. No codes and can't find any light bulb failures inside or out. Anybody had similar on an 04. 5?

Thanks!

There have been quite a few posts on this, you could try a search on it. I would guess the rear lights are causing it.

We've had this problem and what we did to cure it was pull all the bulbs and clean the base and install some dielectric grease to prevent moisture from causing the problem...

Hope this helps...

I had this happen on my 03 and ended up replacing all rear bulbs. What I was told was that the filament gets weak and they start to touch when driving and thats when you would get the "lamp out" alarm. I am not sure if this is true but it did work------when I replaced my bulbs they all worked so I wasnt sure which one it was .

Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to start pulling bulbs this afternoon. I just replaced both licensed plate lights and the brake/tail bulb on the passenger side recently but the "corrosion" factor is most likely the problem (as ya'll stated) and needs some "preventive" maintenance. It never rains in Las Vegas... but I just returned from a trip up north and got caught in that monster snow storm and got everything wet... which is when this problem started. So I think you guys have me headed in the right direction. (ain't this website kool!!! imagine getting help for you truck problems from guys all over the country (and Canada too!) just 5 or 10 years ago. A big "thanks" to everyone for the help!) "... what happens in Vegas... get's spread all over the country... eventually!" Good for me!!!

current flows back across the bulb when it is not lit, its a very small amount. that is what turns the indicator on. I figured this out after I put on a flat bed on my 04 then replaced the lights with led's. It took me some time to figure out why the indicator would not turn off. Diodes don't alow current to flow in reverse.
