Which states are bad for heavy RV trucks?

Metal Valve Stems - Dually

We found a Lance TC, a 2002, 1121, 11'6" w/slide. All looks square on it and 16 hours on the genset and the plastic is still on the carpet. Any problems with this model we should be aware of? Thanks

Under $16k. But an internet search turned up a thread on slide out wall failures. It seems the wall under the slide out is not strong enough.

I called Lance to inquire if it was a real problem or a rumor and a person named ______ (I'll keep his name to my self) said that "is no rumor, the 1121 series has a design defect" and that the fis is to install an angle steel piece to reinforce the frame under the slide. I asked if it was warranty after the OEM warranty expired or if second owners were covered. He said that Lance has been fixing a lot of second owners TC's. A call to Jim Allan (service/warranty manager) at Lance, 661-949-3322 ex 235, got a resounding "no". Lance would NOT fix the sagging wall because the OEM warranty period had expired. Sounds like the LP or #53 block syndrome. Pretty sad, have a known defect and then refuse to stand by the product. The unit I am looking at has never been used, the plastic is still on the carpet and the genset has 16 hours. The gelcoat is still shiny. This one doesnt sag because it has never been on the road. I asked that if it started to sag in the usual way would Lance warranty the repair. Got the same go-away type of answer.

I'm not impressed with Lance at this point.

Not sure what to do now, we like the camper...

Just get a Lance without a slide out. Still can't beat a Lance.

If the wall around the slide can be fixed/reinforced from the inside without removing the Filon siding, then I would consider getting the camper ( maybe if the price is lowered) and fixing it myself before it starts sagging. I wouldn't mess with removing the siding - you may never get it sealed right. There was also a recall on the seal on the seam between the Filon sidewall and the smaller piece that covers the lower rear wall behind the truck bed. Mine was repaired under warranty.

The Lance Slide models are nice - I had a 821 - but they are heavy.

Another reason I don't like the slide out on the Lance Camper, besides what already mentioned here, is that you loose all the storage above the dinette and the tiny storage at the foot of the dinette. Storage is such a premium in any cab-over camper.

Thats exactly why I bought a Lance 1130. No slide, lots of room & storage. Its a 2000. Was used about 4 times. Paid 13 for it. Great price for me. Just wish it had a side awning. Pics in my Gallery. Doesn't get any better than camping by the lake in the great NW.

Nice camper. Is it an 11 1/2 footer? What's on the front of the truck? Is it a grill guard or a bike rack? I have a push bar with a grill guard on my truck, but I want to attach a bike rack for two bikes.

Its a Brush bar, with winch. Just no winch yet. Picked it up for $40 bucks. Heck of a price. Works for me, for now. Oh ya, its a 11 1/2 ft.

We've camped in our '03 Lance 1121 for about 200 or more days since purchasing in Sep. of '02. No sags in the slide, but the generator has suddenly become a huge problem since August of last year. I am still unable to use it after paying a Generac repair place $540. Other than that it has had a few small problems, broken shower diverter, bent arm on overhead vent, shower drain connection loose. Overall I would say we are very happy with the camper itself. A curse on Generac though for an overly complicated "pos".

We got lucky, the Generac wouldnt start so they installed a brand new Onan 2500 LPG. We lucked out i think, they said the Onan was a better unit than the Generac.

Yep, the Onan is a more dependable unit and quieter too. We've owned one Lance with the Onan 2500LP and two Lances with the Generac 3600LP. Of the two, I prefer the Onan. The Onan is a bit limited in power so in some conditions, you may not be able to run the A/C and the microwave at the same time. To lessen the load on the generator, I manually switch the fridge to "LP" when running the A/C in very hot weather or at higher altitudes.
