Has anyone used one of these to hold there laptop?

http://www.autolaptoplinkinc.com/index.html

I currently have my CB mounted between the floor cup holder and seat I don't think that is a problem but I am worried if these will be high enough to clear the gear shift. Certainly cheaper than the Joto!

Any one use one and what do you think of them and will it be high enough?

The Ram mount is for sure more $'s maybe 7 X's depending on which one is used. Kind of hoping the less costly one would work as good. Of cousre the addage you get what you pay for probably applies to these things as most things I suppose.

Yep looking at the website you posted Bob, it looks pretty darn flimsy to me. The ram stuff is top notch.

I made a mount that utilizes the two seat mount bolts. It is made out of pipe fittings and covered in heavy wire loom. The laptop plate is aluminum. It works great and cost about 15 bucks. It is not near as adjustable as the high dollar stuff though.

At least with the one I was looking at the price seemed to be what you get. To be honest I think the RAM and the other Jotto desk(I think it is called) whole much better built but still seem way over priced. I have thought about building my own like you did and may still do it.

Don't go with that one it is too flimzy. I have a Joto Desk and it it has stood up to some pounding. I got the universal mount system which was the cheapest and then fab'd up my own mount. The mount is located very similarlly to the way the 3rd gens mount. Here are some pictures.

Some of the pics did not come through. I see what you mean anyways though. On any of these Laptop mounts is there room for your wife to sit?

The place where I have my Joto there is plenty of room for the shotgun to sit. The laptop sits just to the left of the passenger. I rotate it so that I can shift into reverse and it sits very nicely.

I was noticing that the first two pictures didn't want to show yesterday but they are there today. The software upgrade must have fix the problem.

Yep pics ae there now. Thanks for the help. :)

If you're comfortable with metal working you can fab up the mounting bracket. If not I have made up one or two for people.

I have used the Jotto for a couple of years and feel the cost is worth it. I have never been happy with the one size fits all products. The Jotto is vehicle specific and will install in less then 20 minutes. You will have full access to the shotgun seat. All adjustments can be made without any tools. I have my laptop set up so that it sits in front of the radio and is low enough to stay out of most of the sun's glare. This works find for an automatic. With the infinite adjustments of this devise, I am sure you will find a setting that will work for you gear grinders. Another consideration is the safety of these units. You don't want your $2000. computer becoming a piece of shrapnel in the event of an accident. If the Jotto is good enough for law enforcement vehicles they should work OK in our trucks.

Kevin I have no problem with metal fabrication. I understand the Jotto and Ram mounts are superior and used by law enforcement. It is interesting though the link I provided they claim it is used by law enforement too. Since nobody has responded as having used one of these I showed the link for I guess nobody has and will need to go with the others. Was kinda hoping for a change could find something cheaper and maybe beef it up to make it worthwhile. Thanks everybody for the excellent input.

Mine is a 04. 5 dually and a 48re transmission. Here is what I did. It rotates left and right for pilot or copilot. It was a few hours work and planning. It really works well. See attached photos

Hi, I have the Ram-Mount for my 03 and it works great. Plenty of room for the passenger. I also have the quick disconnect option so I can remove the mount when not in use.

Looks good viper7000 but my CB mount is between seat and cup holder so your mount won't work but yours still looks great. MBradshaw I guess mostly my problem is I am getting old and lazy so purchasing something to work is great but am also cheap!!! Usually those do not work together!!
