OK 3rd gen owners... When you order a Laramie package (either one) does that give you the "fake wood" dash panels? I know that when the Laramie package first came out a few years ago it did. I personally do NOT like the look of the "fake wood" and would like to know if the Laramie package still gives you that "upgrade". If so... I guess I will be in the market for the "lower class" SLT panels to replace them with!

The laramie comes with silver instrument panel bezel, as well as silver door panel trim. It looks much better in a truck than plood in my opinion.

I have the SLT with charcoal gray genuine plastic dash :D

Geno's and others have appliques of wood and "simulated" wood. To me, the question of whether to go Laramie is more an issue of functionality--for example, do i want a transfer case with a real lever to control it, or the "sea of electrons" with a little switch on the dash and a lot of hope in my mind

Best wishes with your selection.

I'm planning on the Laramie "J" option, which is probably equal to the old SLT "Plus" they used to have. It comes with a lot of nice options like the light group, and leather but without the "fluff" like the electronic transfer case, dual zone A/C, etc...

Arrrrgh! Looking at the 2006 Mega Cab photos it appears that "PLOOD" is on it's way back! DRAT! Due to the fact it appears that I am stuck in my 2004 lease until at least late September this year it means that I'm gonna end up with a QC Laramie 2006 with the "PLOOD" and the "new and improved" "DURANGO on steriods" front end! OH JOY! :{ :( :{ :-{}

Yep, I like the "plood" better than the metal, heated leather seats, driver AND passenger power adjustable seats, and the dual heater/air conditioner controls. With the addition of the power adjustable pedals and the heated power adjustable towing mirrors... icing on the cake! :D

Only if I could buy Michelin replacement tires for a dually...

Bringing this thread back up... found my solution to "plood" tonight when I was wandering around the local Dodge dealer lot. (I was bored and needed a new truck "fix" while I wait for mine to arrive at the dealership!)

Anyway, I have noticed that the "Sport" version of the 2006's come with a metallic-loooking radio bezel instead of the "plood". I'm going to stop by my local dealer tomorrow and see if the sport bezel is available for order and how much $$$ it costs.

I had an '01 with the plastic wood stuff, I liked it. Now I have that wonderful silver plastic crap that is a real b**** when the sun shines on it. Some of these engineers need to get out of the cubical once in a while.

I had to put a piece of paper over it driving in Arizona last year. If I had some flat black paint, I would have BOMBED the silver on the spot. :D

my 03 has the wood and the 04 has the silver. I like wood:p but the silver looks better.

Honestly, I love the "plood" that Dodge is using. That was one of the reasons I was drawn to the Dodge to begin with. It warms the cab up a bit. If Dodge deleted it, they'd need to go with some kind of leather inserts where the "plood" is located.

I'm glad the truck comes like that from the factory--I'm concerned with aftermarket wood kits' durability.

I thought the Sport package died, does it come with body color bumpers? I will not buy a truck with chrome.

The Sport I saw yesterday had body color grill for sure... . I can't recall if the bumper was the body color or not. I "think" I do remember that the center portion of the bumper was still chrome though.

Also, for those that like the "sport" radio bezel more then the plastic wood... the part # I was given today was 1CN271DHAA at $270 retail  ($162 dealer cost).

That's the beauty of it all... some like it... some don't and each can have it either way. "Sport" bezel for those that don't... and Laramie for those that do!

I have an 04. 5; for that year, the Laramie had silver color accents throughout the cab. I have the SLT and only want the silver accent that sourounds(sp) the radio and AC controls ------ where can I get just this peice? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
