Could someone tell me if the Laramie has that padded cloth headliner in it. I sure hope not because that stuff starts to sag after a few years and looks like crap and costs a furtune to have replaced. Don't want to be reminded of my Dodge Aries, or for that matter my newly disposed of BMW. #@$%!

It does have some cloth headliner though I'm not sure it's padded. Mine has a spot where it was cut a bit short over the drivers head.

Yeah, if it's cloth it probably is that same type of rubber padded headliner. It looks nice but after a while the rubber padding underneath deteriorates from the heat and the cloth starts sagging. I really hate that stuff. I replaced it in our long time ago Aries and what a mess and hastle. The same thing happened in my 2001 BMW. They wanted $500. 00 just for the replacement headliner and that didn't even consider in the price of the labor. I hate that stuff so bad that I would consider a model that doesn't have it. I wonder if someone else can add to this with the other models. Aside, I notice you pull a similar size TT that I will be pulling. I also want to get the 3500 SRW, LB. Do you have the 3. 73 or 4. 10 gears. :)

It's a hardboard backed product with a cloth finish, it is the same for every vehicle made today, there all the same, you may want to just keep your 1997

I have the 3. 73 and I have to be honest, I wish I'd have got the 4. 10. I've NEVER had trouble pulling it anyplace (the hardest I've done is Highway 17 to Santa Cruz). And maybe it's all in my mind, but I Kind wish it had more off the line empty and had the heavier capability as we are considering a 5th wheel.

I know guys that tow 17000 with their 2007 6. 7's on 3. 73's. I think if I had to order again, I'd go 4:10.

In my experience, the only headliners I've seen sag are the ones exposed to cigarette smoke.

The ones I had experience with sagged due to the rubber deteriorating because, what I believe to be, the heat from the roof and no insulation between the roof and the backerboard that the cloth liner was glued to. Of course my experience was in the deep south with lots of heat. Maybe today they have changed the material, but if it has a spongy feel it more than likely has the layer of rubber underneath the cloth. Unless, they are just glueing a piece of cloth to the backerboard. Oh well, since they all seem to have it I guess I would just have to deal with it. Appreciate the comments. :)

Kind of off topic from my original post and know that there are quit a few 3. 73 vs 4. 10 threads on the forum, so I won't get into detail with this. More afraid of loosing more fuel mileage due to the 4. 10. Although, from what people are saying it is minimal. But, the only thing I will say is when I had my 97 with 3. 54s, I sure wish I had better gears to get me going with my TT. So, I know what you mean. Especially, when those truckers are barrelling *** down the interstate and you are comming out of a rest stop.
