2004 Dodge 2500 2 wd, started to loose power on the interstate, when check engine light came on. Limped to Auto Zone and had code read. Showed bad batteries. I replaced them with new ones. Still has problems when accelerating. I have to push peddle slowly or it will not go faster. I am changing the fuel filter tomorrow. Do I fill with diesel before I replace the filter cap or will it fill when I start up?

Just turn the key onb for 30 sec. then off then on again for 30 sec you should hear the pump shut off . Should be good to go

If you turn the key on and JUST TAP the starter but don't start it, the fuel pump will run for a minute or more and purge the filter housing. If you DRAIN out the housing then do the starter tap a few times to make sure it is purged. Did Autozone CLEAR the codes after you changed the batteries? Did they check for proper charging rate?

:) Thank you Motorhead. I replaced the fuel filter, let fuel pump work and was good to go. Autozone didn't clear the code. I replaced the batteries with new ones and no more check engine light. My power is back and no know issues at this time. I thank this Forum for the help.
