Large Bore pistons for sale?

Im looking for just one, used piston. I would prefer one with a bore of around 12 inches, conecting rod included. The reason i am looking for one, is I like to fabricate metal and design things, i recently got the idea to take an old piston from a genorator or somthing of the sort and make a desk lamp out of it. My idea is to lay the piston so that the bottom is in contact with the connecting rod, tac weld it, then weld the base of the connecting rod to a small sheet of diamond plate or somthing of the sort. Then simply wire a socket to the underside and add a switch.



If anyone knows where i could find a used piston and matching connecting rod of considerable size for a reasonable price, please let me know. thank you

What area of the country are you located in?

i've got a single piston and conrod from a ge fdl diesel engine. . the engine uses a master and articulating rod setup. the piston and rod i have are the art. side. . about 10" the piston is. . rod is about 12" long. . weight is a little over 100lbs, so maybe too heavy for a lamp... ?

nickleinonen, that sounds like it might be close enough. Where are you located, also, around howmuch would you want for it?

(now that i see the picture with it on a pallet, i realize how big they are. that looks like it would be a hard find to beat)

Well i will try to find out how much it costs to ship and then see if its worth it. ya i wish i was close cause id sure take you up on that offer.

well when we go through one i can try to get you one we have DMR-16-4 Enterprises they are about 14in and they have a for and blade setup the conrods are around 3 1/2 feet and complet they weigh around 600 lbs so i will keep you in mind i might be a few decade's

must be nice... this past week at work, into the scrap bin went a ge fdl turbocharger [exploded] and just under a dozen pistons from a few different ge fdl engines. . ge at one point contracted some russian company to manufacture the pistons. they have had massive failures from stress cracks where the skirt bolts to the piston crown. .
