I have a 99 2500 2WD. The parts and service books say I have 15/16th inch dia. cylinders. Some of you have installed the 3500 cylinders which are 1 1/16th Dia. Which is a 1/8 larger bore. My question is----Can you tell any improvement on rear wheel breaking performance? Especially when loaded. I will try them if you all report sucess. Merry christmas.

I put the 3500 cylinders on my truck, and it made a BIG difference! There is no reason not to install the 3500 cylinders. They bolt right in.

The 3500 cylinders made a huge difference on my truck. I remember some earlier posts that said there are even bigger ones than the 3500's that are direct bolt in. I think it was posted by Sam, the guy that has a brake shop. Sorry I don't recall his user name but I'm sure someone will.

Also made a big improvement in my 98 2wd. I got the bigger cylinders from O'Rielys for about $12. 50 each. The part # is Wagner F79767 or #3069 . I would suggest replacing rear shoes at the same time Part# 451 ( about $20. 00 ). Worth the effort.

Royal---There were some running changes on these cylinders from the factory on the late 90's trucks. You may already have the larger bore cylinders so it is best to check the bore size on the ones you have now. If you have the smaller 15/16 size you should notice a difference in stopping power with the 1 1/16 size plus the fronts should last longer. ---Sam

Thanks for all of your valuable info. I did some research today.

Went to Dodge and looked at the O/S cylinders. They want $55. 00.

Then to Autozone & Checkers, both are $10. 99 and are Brakemaster parts made in Italy. Then to Pep Boys, they have Raybestos, made in USA. They are the exact same parts in the same box as Dodge for $11. 99. The PN is differnt but same packageing so you can see DC mark up.

Sam I will take your advice and check my originals for the up grade . Thanks again & Merry Christmas to all.

When you check your cylinders, don't mistake the dia. of the rubber dust seal for the piston bore. The bore is smaller. If the dust seal is 1 1/8, you got the small ones. I don't smell my fronts overheating since I put the big cylinders on the back. I think someone said that there is a 1 3/16 on GMs. Craig

99 RW Cylinders

I have a late 99 and it came with the larger wheel cylinders on it. Might want to check before buying replacements.

Good Luck
