ok, I am sure this has bene discussed but I didnt see it in a quick search (and I am trying not to slack off at work  ).

I am thinking of going back to the '05 stock forged alum. wheels for tow ratings sake but I just hate the "stock look". Whats the largest tire E range tire for the stock wheels with out rubbing, etc. ... I have seen many people just getting bigger tires and it looks much better.

You can go as high as 315's w/slight rubbing (full lock either way for me) with the stock 4x4 suspension. 285's won't rub. Between those, I don't know if there are any sizes but they may or may not slightly rub. The bigger you go the softer the ride. The dealer can update the revs per mile in the computer so the speedo matches.

I have to add that the 315's with the stock suspension looks better than I envisioned:

Rosco -- I agree. Mine are LT315/70R17D "D" rated tires (balloons?). :-laf

They have a 3196 pound rating which is exactly the same rating as their LT265/70R17E "E" rated tire so it's in the ballpark of many E rated tires.

I admit it's not the same, though. They don't have the same sidewall stiffness or stability. They sure do have a soft ride tho.

I put BFG 315 AT's on... these tires only carry a load range D rating, but the weight rating is the same between these and the stock 265 E's (3195 lbs. ) To be honest, I'm pleased how little my 315's squat with a heavy load. And because their D rated, I can carry the 3195 lbs at 50 psi instead of 80 psi with the 265 E's, which makes for a softer ride.

Toyo makes a 35-12. 5-17 E load (Open Country MT) I'm just waiting for them to get to DRC (National Backorder). I have the KORE Pace system and should have no problems. I'm not planning on changing the wheels that came on my truck. Pic's when I get them.

Another vote for the 35 inchers... . Mine are 35X12. 50X17 D rated at 3000 lbs @ 50 psi. Which is honestly more than I'll ever have on it.

Just ordered 295-70-17 toyo MT's E load rated. Also soon to be available 285-70-17 toyo AT's E load rated but only in Canada,

Thanks everyone ...

I had some custom 20in wheels and D rated BFG 285/55-20 and had to correct my situation as bought a heavy 5er. The wheels were only rated 2100lbs each tires were only 2833lbs.

Anyways, I worked an exchange with the vendor for safety reason and ended up biting the bullet and upgrading to some weld 20in wheels rated at 3200lbs and the Nittor Terra Grappler 305/55-20. This equates to a hair over 33inx12in-20. I am not initially very happy as the "bump steer" effect is present now, can feel alot more of the little bumps in the road, etc. (i. e. vibrations) and it seems to have noticeably effected my seat of the pants acceleraton (gearing). I am not necessarily saying that this is a suprise to me as I knew at some point you do kinda cross a threshold of personal desire and it seems the the jump from 285 to 305 was that threshold for me. Its not too bad but in retrospect probably just should have gone back to the stock wheels considering all the $$$ I threw down on this for "looks" only. Just something for others to add/rember in their thoughts when considering tire/wheels. I should add they did fill the tires up at the 65PSI max and after my drive were at 70PSI heated up so I will air them down when not towing for driving comfort and its shouldnt be that big of a deal.
