anyone out there run larger than the stock 235/85 16r tires on their 3500 dually? I would like to run a larger tire, but dont want the tires to rub together in the rear, especially when loaded, i also dont want to use spacers if possible.
You can go up one size to a 255-85R16 without any trouble. Anything larger and you will require spacers.
This is based on the assumption that you have a 2001 or later truck.
There are some guys out there that are running 40 inch mudders on their rigs. These require lift kits and 4 to 4. 5 inch spacers. More tire than I need.
I run 255-85R16's on my 99 dually and have a 1. 25 inch spacer to get the spacing between the tires. So far I do not have any issues with the spacers. In fact it's kind of nice to not to have to jack up the truck to remove the outside tire. Just like the big rigs.
