I just wanted to give you guys a heads up on two great things I did to my truck last week, along with a lot of other things.

My truck was down for a week and a half for BOMBing.

I installed new hinge bushings on the driver's door, I did some custom work (green paint on the valve covers, intake horn, and heater lines) on the engine, rebuilt the starter, and had my exhaust manifold bead blasted and ported, and my boost elbow and intake horn ported as well. I also took care of a few other gremlins that have been nagging me for a while (like a vacuum leak, some electrical issues etc. ) I also just installed a 3200rpm governer spring (which was a real PITA... mostly my fault though), but I have not driven the truck since. I'll give you guys an update on that tomorrow.

I rebuilt my starter because I bought the Larry B starter kit, and I thought that while it was all opened up, I might as well turn the armature and get new brushes. I must say, the Larry B starter kit is the BEST $32 I've spent in a long time. You would NOT BELIEVE how fast my truck starts now.

Also, I had porting work done by Dave Miller (hdm48). His porting work is absolutely TOP NOTCH. My EGTs are down, spoolup is GREATLY improved, and my truck cools down way faster when I get to my destination.

The one thing that is bugging me now, is that I have this high pitched squeek in my dash in front of me that I believe may be the dreaded cowl crack... I'll have to look into that. I hope the TSB patches are still available.

Well guys, I'm much happier with my truck now!

And run out and buy the Larry B starter kit and get ahold of Dave for some porting work! :)

I also had HDM48 Dave Miller do some port and polish on my ATS manifold and turbo. He did a great job :D I also found that the turbo came up faster and easier, runs cooler, cools faster at shut down. Dave has been doing this sort of thing for more than 20 years and really knows what and how to do this the right way. BTW Just a VERY HAPPY customer.

Sure, tell me if this link works guys:

That pic was kinda a quick snapshot... as you can see, the engine compartment was still a little dirty... I've cleaned it since. :D I'm really proud of my engine compartment now.

So some call me a neat freak! :D

My truck's nick name is "The Green Weenie", so I figured I better add some more green to make my truck a little more unique! :D

I'm soo jealous- your manifold is still its proper length. But all my 4x4s have stayed long and not shrunk... ... . Hafta come up with a theory on that. Maybe have one in the AM. Actually, the green valve covers dotn look bad. I think you should outline the Dodge Ram, Cummins TD in silver or some other color for added contrast and accent.

I may send hdm48 a PM about doing an ATS manifold when I get the money. Have it sent from the northwest via his shop. I did my stock replacement (used 12v stocker), but if I'm buying a NEW one, I want it done right, then I can draw pictures and take measurements for the time after that. Ok, I'll stop now.

Yikes!! It looks like a colony of leprechauns have taken up residence under your hood!:--)

You better hope they don't eat much or your bombing efforts will be for naught. They will suck up all that new HP. ;)

I bet I have some spray that would take care of them or better yet, maybe you can borrow Bob's stick and whack 'em! :D :D

:-laf

You know, originaly it was a different green but it didn't turn out well. I did sand all the letters down so they looked brushed just like the original way they were...

I may do that again. I was just getting sick of painting so I put it together when I got all my parts back from Dave. :D

I just wish Don would get back to me so I know when I can expect the injectors... . :)

Then I may paint the injector lines... and then I'll take off the name plate and sand down the letters again. Then I think I'll slap another coat on that one heater line because it has a thumb print on it...

Uh, it stopped... but for no apparent reason. I'm stumped, I was waiting until after all my stuff came back from being ported to start working on my water leak, and when I started it up... no water leak. Hasn't leaked since. :)
