Hello Guys

I'm trying to purchase a C/C down pipe to do a fit up for a ram truck, but the dealer say I need the last nine digits of the vin# to buy one. If any one oF you would be willing to give me the last nine digits of your vin# from a C/C 4X4 6. 7 AUTO It would be greatly appriciated. If you are willing please PM it to me.

Thanks

Wes

Dealer didn't have one on the lot either I assume.

On edit: You can look at the sticker online for a new truck too. It's kind of hard to give out this info to the world, but best to get one from the dealer.

Good luck

The ones on the lot are not sold and they know that. already tried that! Yes, I have a standard ram. I'm not trying to scam anyone if that's on your mind. just asking, I will have to find one some place in a parking lot or business.

What is their reasoning behind not wanting to sell to you, if you do not have those 9 digits?? Why won't they just sell you the part??

I am trying to understand their rational of thinking.

It sounds a little scary for a dealer to ask for your vin #. I believe I'd take my business somewhere else and report the dealer to the BBB.

Dealer parts dept uses VIN to lookup build data on that particular truck to determine what equip/parts were used on it. They pull up a build sheet that shows exactly what was installed as the truck went down the line. I got one from a friendly parts guy and learned a lot about mine.

The # is not hard to find,my guess it is restricted, they can not order with out a vin. On your dime tell them the truck was in an accident and has physical damage.

They want the last nine because most of the dealers use StarParts and it is VIN filtered to keep mistakes down. The dealers no longer earn return allowance on purchases so what they buy, they have to keep.

And you guys worry too much. My neighbor is a PI, and he can find your VIN, your SS #, and who you have been sleeping around with in a couple of minutes. Well OK, your girlfriend/boyfriend will take a little longer, but the info is out there.

So to answer your question, for an 08 DC with 6. 7 it shows two pipes, one is a "tube, particulate filter inlet" PN 52122022AC and sells for $334. The other is a "tube, particulate filter outlet" PN 52122025AE and sells for $23. Just like the dealer, I don't guarantee it will fit unless I have a VIN. And both are available without STAR restriction.
