Maybe one of the dealer gentlemen can give me a hand here. I'm in the market for a 3/4 ton diesel (see signature... ), but can't do anything till probably July (due to college graduation), just like I did in '03. In '03, I ordered my Dakota in mid June and took delivery in early July which worked our perfectly. Does anyone know the cutoff date for ordering an '05. 5?? I'm not sure if I'm crazy about the '06 updates, but I may have to hold off an order one in the fall. The summer typically brings some good Chrysler rebates, so it would be nice to take delivery of a late '05. 5 in July or August. I also wonder how the freeze on delivery with the G56'ers will affect the order cutoffs?? Thanks very much for all your help.

I think G-56 trucks are on restriction right now, as in, you can't order one until they get this all sorted out... but i'm not 100% sure yet.

The date at which they stop taking orders for the 05s was covered by Tomeygun a few weeks ago. He said it varies based on a few factors and I think it could be as early as may.

This is my suggestion to you:

Order your truck NOW. If you don't you may not be able to get it. I screwed up and should have ordered a truck in December so I could have got an NV 5600. I snoozed, and I lost.

Pick your truck up when convenient for YOU. The day you order your truck, the incentives that were there the day it was ordered are price protected as long as you pick up the truck within 5 days. In other words, you still get the incentives of the date of order unless you fail to pick your truck up within 5 days. That said, if the incentives get better, or stay the same, you can pick your truck up whenever you want. You get the best of both worlds--either the ones at the time of ordering or the time of delivery. Since they're not that great now ($1k rebate, $1k chrysler financial) they likely won't go down--but they COULD go up, which would give you until they change again to pick the truck up.

So.....

Order truck now

Pick up when economically feesable

Get the truck you want

Keep in mine if you buy an 05 in August it's a year old the day you bought it. August is when the new models typically come out.

Good luck.
