Hi All,

I just installed a new torque converter and valve body on my 97 3500.

All works great, but overdrive and converter lock-up seems to come in late.

Under normal light throttle (around 1/4 down) it won't shift into OD until 55 MPH or so.

Soon after it shifts into OD, it goes into converter clutch.

I just replaced the TPS and it stills shifts late.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help!

You have to adjust your new TPS...

Even though it is new... it may not be giving the PCM the right voltage at the right time.

Get out a rat - tail file and start adjusting until you get the right numbers on your voltmeter. I don't know the right voltage... someone else is bound to post it...

I think the right voltage at idle is 1. 00 +/- . 05 or that may only be for my "95. You can put an opened paper clip in the center wire coming out of the TPS harness and reference it to ground. Not a hard job.

If it has 3. 55 gears id leave it alone! 55 is perfect. most shift into OD too early and chug around, killingthe trans

I agree, is all else is ok I would not worry too much about it unless you absolutely cannot stand it.

I would be overjoyed if mine did that.

To check the TPS, with the throttle at idle, you should have one volt between the center pin and ground (+ or - 0. 2 volt)

You didn't say where you got the TC and valve body. They may be able to help you change the shift points.

Since yours is the 47RE transmission, It can be controlled electronically. I think BD and DTT both have products that will do that. Possibly others as well.
