Ford's Proud Integrated Brake Controller

I Was Outbid

No, it's not a truck, but a 1979 Yale 3000# forklift. I picked it up last week in Kansas City and hauled it 600 miles back to Wisconsin. It weighs almost 7000# and is the heaviest item that I've towed with my '03. The truck ran great the entire way at 70mph with the A/C on, and I'm pleased that it got almost 17mpg.

My question is about the engine in the forklift. I believe it is a Mazda built, Perkins designed engine, but I can't find any data plate that gives the displacement information. Does anyone know which Mazda engine this Yale has? Thanks!

That is a sweet little forklift! Yes, the Yale lifts use Mazda engines. I believe it is a similar engine to what was used in the Mazda/Ranger pickups. Parts are available for them through forklift dealerships (which my company is).
Engine information should be stamped on the block, where the head goes on. It is usually near the distributer (gas/LPG)or injection pump (diesel)
I am going to be on the lookout for a good used diesel forklift, but right now all I have is a gas/lpg dual fuel one. Serves me well for now though, as I have a LPG tank I can fill out of.
Also, if you can get the model/serial number of the machine, I (or another forklift dealer)can figure out at least some of the engine information for you.
