The shudder problem has been solved, for me anyway. I think I was trying to make the problem to difficult. It was the rear u-joint. 1/2 of the joint was completely frozen up and the other side was free. Of course the rear one is the one with the most angle so it would really shake when under a load, especially in 2nd at about 1500 rpm, after that you could still feel it but it wasn't to bad. If you have this problem, if you haven't already done it,ck your u-joints. For me, it was a cheap, easy fix.

I was wonderin' why the heck this fella is fixing his new truck himself, I would have the dealer fixing this under warranty. Then I saw that you already have 117,000 miles on your truck already. You must have one hell of a commute in the mornin'. :D

What all have you had to replace or fix on your truck so far? What do you do with it to get that many miles?

Just curious...

Actually it's up to 118,500 now. I was in your fair city this afternoon. It's on my profile, but I'm a hotshot driver . I run out of Victoria. About 80% of those miles are pulling a big goose-neck trailer. The only things I've fixed on it so far is a leaking power steering pump and the limited slip unit, it didn't work from the start. Both fixed under warranty and everything works now except my CD player, it plays what ever the heck it wants to, skips from track to track. That's ok though, the only time I listen to it is when I go out to west Texas and can't pick up any radio stations. I've had this truck for 14 months today, bought it on Valentines day last year. Looks like it's going to be a good one. My last one had 416,000 miles on it when I sold it.

My last truck was a 95 one ton 12 valve. I didn't start doing this type of work until 98, then it was part time, I was farming at that time. Farming got so good, (ha, ha) that I decided to quit and do this full time in 2002. Everything is much better now.
