Was lead paint something that was only used for house paint? Or was lead an additive to lots of different paints for lots of applications?

I'm asking because I'm working on a machine tool built in '41 and I'm wondering if the machinery paint might contain lead.

I've done this too. I wonder just how much lead you must be exposed to to make problems.

On various gun forums they have been running threads about lead exposure, with reloading, indoor ranges, and even outdoor ranges.

Tolerance level seems to vary greatly, with people getting checked monthly, and the lead in blood levels varying tremendously. One common item that keeps re-occurring is that those who smoked, eat, or fail to wash afterwards seem to have a much higher lead retainage in their blood.

So guess it pays to stay clean, and with everything else, an individuals experiences vary!!! :p
