After I returned from a short trip to the Central Valley I noticed a small puddle of something under the right front wheel well. I thought it might be condensation from the AC ( why does the AC condensor generate condensation when the heater or defroster is on?) but it was oil of some sort. Tried to locate the source of the leak but it was dark and I couldn't tell where it was coming from. The oil is clear and looks to be following a line that runs down from under the air cleaner towards the right fron wheel.

Anyone seeing this, or any ideas what it might be.

Dave

That is the same place that the air conditioner water drips. Are you sure it was oil? The air conditioner cycles on all but 2 settings.

Dave, is your truck a 4wd? From the looks of your signature it isn't, but if it is, I would guess it is gearlube puking from the front differential vent tube which is located near the airbox. Common problem-my '98 and '01. 5 both did it. There are a few threads about it in the archives.

Maybe gear lube?

John,

You may have solved my problem. The rubber line runs down from under the airbox onto the frame, oil has coated this line up as far as I can reach.

I seem to remember a few threads about this problem now that you mention it.

I'll try a search and see what I come up with.

Thanks

Dave

What two settings does the AC not run on? I know it will run on the 2 defrost and the 2 little snowflake settings, but there are 3 left, vent, low, and combo. Which 2 of those 3 are non-ac?
