within the last few weeks we have developed a nasty air leak in the sunroof. just wondering if there is anything i can do besides caulking it shut. :-laf we bought the truck the truck used so we just kinda ended up with the sunroof, dont think i would ever buy it on a new one, just one more place for air to leak as a truck ages.

If you're talikng about the '06, I had the same problem and I had the glass realigned and the sunroof module flashed to update the motor control. My sunroof was not closing all the way. The flash fixed it, changed the way the roof cycles a little bit.

i assume this is something you had done at a dealer. yesterday i got up and took a good look at the sunroof looked to me like the glass was not coming all the way down in the front as compared to the back. is this similar to what you saw?

Yes, I had this done at the dealer. IIRC, the rear of the panel was not raising up enough to seal; when I pushed up on the panel with my hand the wind noise would cease.

The other problem that I had was that fairly often the roof would not close when used in vent mode (I rarely open the roof slider, usually just vent). It would just cycle up and down. I am assuming that there is some kind of anti-pinch feature in the sunroof module that was preventing the roof from closing, maybe just due to the force needed to overcome the friction of compressing the weatherstrip. I suspect that the reflash of the motor control module had alot more to do with resolving my problem than the glass alignment. It changed the way the roof moves when going through the closing cycle.
