I just put a new head on my 97 and noticed that when I started it up last night that I had a very bad miss... . I knew it was fuel. I was looking at the injectors and sure enough number 3 injector was leaking between the injector and the nut that holds it in... I pulled the injector out and looked at the orings and copper ring and it all looked good... . reseated it and started the truck again... noticed that number 3 wasn't leaking any more but number 2 and number 6 are leaking... I was fed up with it and this was around 5 in the morning I put a full 24 hours on this truck in a day and came to that... . Could it be that the injectors need to be reseated or is there something else going on! Please help#@$%!

Even though the head is new did you check the injector bore to see if any debris is in there?

I always had a problem too with those leaking and what i found that helps is A LOT of grease all over the contacting areas of the head and the injector (both side of the Injector washer,Injector tip, injector body, threads on the injector, return line threads and the injector retaining nut threads. ) It might seem weird or overkill but i myself have been proved wrong...

theres a torque spec for the hold down nuts too. not sure off the top of my head (no pun) but maybe a search will do ya good. ;) also the horseshoe return washers can look like its the injector leaking, id suspect them first, they can be tough to seal right.

With out leaks except for the valve covers... . I have to grind the casting runners for them to fit with the new head studs!

Injectors are good also... the break loose at between 3,000 and 3,500 PSI... I believe that is good for 223,454 miles on it if that is not good let me know!
