Ok, I'm officially getting nervous... my local dealer has been trying to track done an air leak that we thought was coming from the bottom of the windshield by the passenger's side A pillar. Friday they rigged up a vaccum source and used smoke to find the leak. What they found is that the air is entering through what looks to be a body seam below the windshield. From the engine compartment, it would be back behind the windshield washer fluid bottle. Now this dealer doesn't have a body shop, so they're sending me to another dealer with an onsite certified body shop. At this point they're talking about removing the passenger fended, door, dash, etc. to try to get to the source. Then they mentioned using selaer or welding the seam together.
Now here's my question... is this common? Should I be freaking out at the thought of them doing this type of repair? I've had plenty of things go wrong with new vehicles, but they've never had to be welded on!
FYI... my truck's a 2005 2500 4x4 Ext Cab CTD
