leaking differential pinion seal

Hello, my 2004. 5 with 11 1/2 AA diff is leaking oil from rear pinion seal. Is replacement of seal a problem?

The service manual says to remove axles and use inch pound torque wrench to turn input shaft for proper adjustment.

Must the axles be removed? Or can I just remove/replace seal and replace/torque pinion flange and prop shaft?

Mark the flange and the nut when you take them off. . No need to remove the axles. The nut is a 12 sided 36 mm I think--it's a weird size--be prepared.
