I have had a fuel leak for a while that has gotten worse. I just got out from under the truck and it is dripping from the water drain valve on the fuel filter housing. Anyone else had this problem?

I noticed my OE water drain valve was getting sticky at about 80K, so I put in a new one before it started leaking.

Did you try cycling the valve a couple of times to try to get it to seal? You can pull down on it to help it close.

Bill, It's leaking out of the o-rings that seals the valve to the housing. And no one has the o-rings, so I guess I'll have to buy the valve also.

Dee, if you can't come up with the O-ring short of buying the whole mess just make your own, I do it all the time. Napa sells bulk o-ring material by the foot both square and round. You just cut it to length and connect it with super glue. Sounds funky but it works very well. I use glue together o-rings on 3000 psi hydraulic components with out any problems. Once the glue sets the joint is stronger than the rubber.

Am i misunderstanding something here. I ger new o-rings every time I buy a filter. Just replace the filter and get the new rings too. I'm assuming that you have at least a few thousand miles on the filter so it will be a feasible solution.

I fixed the problem. I had too to get home tonight. I got a new water release valve from the Dealer.

There are two greem o-ring where this valve mounts on the bottom of the fuel filter housing. I wish i would have had the time to get some other o-rings only time wasn't on my side. I'm 62. 50 poorer but after a 22 mile trip home she dry as a bone.

I had to replace the fuel because the upper oil ring had grown. It has less than 1500 miles on it.

Thanks for all your help and advice!!!!!
