MADS, Smarty (jr) ???

I purchased a couple of 6 one gallon cases of Rotella 15w40 oil a few months ago. I noticed the bottom of the of the cases seeping a little. Didn't think much of it. Today I went to garage and oil WAS ALL OVER, it had dripped down from the top shelf were I had it stored, down unto the 3 shelfs below, and left a big puddle on the floor!!!

When I opened the cases 3 or 4 of the one gallon bottles had split on the botton seam where the two halves of the plastic jug are glued together!!!

WHAT A MESS!!

FYI this was the older CI oil, I stocked up on 3 or 4 cases.

Anyone else ever see this happen???

No, I hadn't seen anything like that yet but be sure look over any 1 gallon jugs of fluid that you buy because the over zealous stock clerk goes wild with the razor cutter sometimes. Just ask me how I know.

Boy, do I feel lucky. I hauled 3 of them around in the back seat on the floor for a month before I got time to change oil.

No these bottles didn't have any cut marks on the plastic the plastic halves wernt't glued correctly, lucking they weren't in my car too.

Now I about 2-3 gallons oh oil to clean off the floor

Leaks

I agree as above. Some clerk or truck unloader slammed the case down too hard or the high speed plastic bottle maker malfunctioned slightly. I got one a while back and did not notice till home. Returned to the store and they replaced.

Dropping they may have been possible, but the oil cases were 2-3 ys old and just now leaked!!

Well, I talked to someone at Sopus, they said they would refund the purchase price. Luckily I still had my receipts. Mailed info in yesterday, well see what happens!

These gallon containers were weak at the bottom seam. The ones that weren't split, you could split them by sticking your finger in the seam!!

I had the same problem with some Delo that I stored in the garage for about 4 or 5 months. Seems the additive package in oil will allow seepage through plastic!!! It's pretty crazy. All of them did it a little and the seams never split or opened!

Yeah, they keep pushing the envelope on how little plastic they can make the bottle out of and welded seam on the bottom is stressed and will seperate if a little pressure is put against it.

I bought a five gallon pail of Delo 400 and fill my keeper one gallon containers out of that for servicing. I'm able to bulk refill the pail as that's cheaper. I keep the gallon jugs in a box and they seem to be fine. They rattle around in truck boxes for months without leaking unless the driver whacks them with something.
