Hello,

I have 45k on my 04. 5 2WD now and noticed oil on the inside of my rim when changing the left rear tire. It's also wet on the back side of the brake plate. It looks and smells like rearend fluid. Anyhow, has anyone else had this same problem and is this normally covered under warranty? Thanks!

You might want to check your warranty in your owners manual but I think on the 04. 5 it had a 7/70,000 drivetrain warranty so yes it would be covered.

Didn't that warrantee have a $100. 00 deductable? IF the pads are not contaminated you can fix it for the price of a seal and some gear oil

Axle Leak

Thanks for the info. The mechanic at the dealer said that the axle bearing was not tightened up enough at the factory and, that the axle could be moved in and out when he grab the hub. So, that's what ate up the seal. The dealer replaced both inner and outer bearings, axle seals and the emergency brakes. The E-brakes were covered in the rearend oil. However, the rear disc looked great. I do have the 7/70 and had to pay a $100 deductable. All in all, I'm just glad to be back in my truck. Thanks again for the info.
