My 03 Havyduty i leaking again. Was wondering what the fix is??Does anyone know what DC has done to address this problem. I know there are quite a few with this problem. Some say there is a vent on top of transfer case that has to be upgraded sme sa new yoke. . If someone had this done and are having good results do you hve a part # that I can give to Dealer to get my truck fixed. Aloha . . :(

YOU NEED TO FIND OUT IF THE LEAK IS COMING FROM THE WEEP HOLE ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE 4WD REAR ADAPTER HOUSING, IF IT IS, THE LEAK MAY BE THE TRANSFER CASE INPUT SHAFT SEAL.

IF IT IS LEAKING THERE THEN THEY NEED TO EXAMINE THE TRANSFER CASE INPUT SHAFT GEAR SURFACE AND REPLACE IF

NECESSARY. WITH THIS CONDITION REPLACING ONLY THE OUTPUT SHAFT SEAL WILL NOT CORRECT THE LEAK. IF THE INPUT

SHAFT SEAL IS OK, AND THE YOKE IS OK, THEY MAY NEED TO REPLACE THE EXTENSION HOUSING.

HOPE THIS HELPS

I don't think the seal is the problem. Inside the splined part of the yoke there is a soft plug( as the splines are machined all the way through in the manufacturing process) that is supposed to keep the oil from leaking out the splines. AS you drive, especially over big humps that cause the suspension to work a lot, the yoke goes in and out pumping a small amount of oil past the plug. the U-joint then slings it across underside of thruk. Should be covered by warrenty on your truck. Let me know how they fix it as mine was out of warrenty before it started leaking.

Mine is still leaking. When I had the driveshaft off to fix the fifth gear nut I tried to wick some loctite down the splines around the plug. Fixed it for awhile then started leaking again. My next thought was knock out the old plug and press in a new one and maby solder it. Or take it to a driveline shop and see what they thought. Post what happens with DC or PM me. thanks.
