I have noticed that my steering box is leaking from the main shaft down below... the main nut that connects the pitman arm is all wet from fluid... should i get a box from genos or go to a good parts house???? thanks andre

I recommend the new mopar steering box, there is a write up on here about it, much bigger then the old one and comes with a new pitman arm so You don't have to pull your old one off, will save a lot of time

Steering box

I had a great experience with Red Head steering box. I also put on a steering box brace while I was at it. Really pleased with the result - didn't realize how bad my stock box was (at 50K miles) until I replaced it.

X2 on what AEdelheit says - I replaced mine a year and a half ago and installed a BD brace from Genos. It will probably last much longer with the bracethan the original but wish that I had the new beefier box. Worth a search for the write up.

Im confused??? when people say the mopar box is it from the dealer or is it the borgeson box????? and where do you but this mopar box... from the dealer and parts places? sorry just a little:confused:

I was also thinking about using the stop leak, but that is a temporary fix and i dont want to damage or hurt the rest of the system... that is my thought.

then you end up buying a pump also... .

The Red Head box is rebuilt to better than new tolerances and improved bearing materials. Their box will be tighter than a new one and will last longer too.
They've been a respected shop for many decades and build a great product. When it's time, I'll get one of their box's.

Question: what is the purpose of the steering box brace?

I have seen to many issues from Redhead to agree with you on this one. one poor guy went through 3 of their boxes before he gave up and bought the new Mopar replacement

A rebuilt small box will not be nearly as strong as the new bigger one, but it's your money have fin
