My trans cooler is weeping/leaking. The upper left (passenger side) area is clogged from weeping fluid attracting dirt and consequently inhibiting the air flow.

I've read post talking about mods to the stock cooler to increase cooling however, I am wondering if there is a better cooler to replace the stock one and if so where from ? If not, where to buy new other than the dealership ?

Perhaps one that does not have a T-Stat or a check-ball valve ?

Has anyone had their cooler develop a leak ?

Thanks !

Yes, I have a friend that has an 03. The cooler leaks and does the same thing. We just clean it with engine degreaser when it comes in for service. If it gets bad something will be done about it then.

Thanks for reply. I called Cummins, a replacement is available, there has been three revisions (numbers) I don't know if the mean they have improved them or just changed numbers. It would be nice to know if there was a better than original OEM one out there.

I am pretty sure that the cooler out front is MOPAR. Cummins probably assumed that you were referring to the heat exchanger on the left rear of the block. You have already gone a round with one of those as I recall.

Mike.

Yeah, don't think Cummins is going to stock the front cooler only the heat exchanger. Deraile makes one with\without the thermostat that is about the same size as the OE cooler. Should be as good or better than OE.

PATC has some on their web site also but don't remeber what brand. Get the largets that will fit in the area the OE cooler does and you should be good.

Yes I have. I will call again in the morning to make sure its not heat ex. he was quoting.

Thanks Mike.
