Leaking Transfer/Lift Pump

I have a 03 3500 SO 4x4, Dead stock with 95K miles... just noticed fuel leaking (a good amount) with a puddle under the engine on the drivers side. Truck starts and runs fine with no problems.



Upon closer observation, it looks like it is coming from around the transfer pump. (behind and attached to the fuel filter)... . There is a seam midway down on the item and it looks as though fuel is coming from this seam. a couple of questions:



1) Is this covered under the 7yr/100K engine warranty?



2) If not, is this easy to replace... . any suggestions on the procedure?

There is an O ring that seals the pump to the fuel filter housing. You can check and see if it is possibly cut or damaged.

The lift pump is secured to the fuel filter with 4 allen head bolts.

yes, they are easy to replace, but it is also covered under the 100K warranty. Also, as Justin mentioned, there is a little rubber o-ring that seals it to the fuel filter canister.

Take it in and get it replaced under warranty.

BTW: Truck has 95K on it... 1st time into the shop for repair... . hope the next 95K is the same!!

The dealer is going to "fix" it by installing a new in-tank lift pump kit. (I think it includes a new tank).



This means the next time it goes out, you'll be dropping your fuel tank.



If/when mine goes out, I'll be replacing it myself, one way or another.
