I have had an intermittent (sp?) problem... I have come home from work and found the passenger side front tire completely flat on two occasions over the last couple of months?

After I reinflate the tire I soap the stems and no leak:confused:

Nothing in the tire that I can see! could it be a very small leak on the rubber valve stem?? should still be able to see bubbles when soaped though??

What are your opinions on changing out the valve stems to the steel ones?

That would be a good idea if you haul.

If you have aluminum rims, may have corrosion where the tire bead is at. If that is the case, remove tire from rim and use a wire wheel to clean it up.

You've been nailed!

The nail that is in your tire has had the head worn off. If you want you can soap the tire down yourself, find the leak, then take it to the tire shop to be fixed, or you can skip the check part and do the shop thing. ;)

What ever you decide make sure that the repair is internal and not a plug. DO NOT PLUG STEEL BELTED RADIAL TIRES.

Slim chance but I have seen leaking aluminum rims.

Steel valve stems

I think I will go to the steel valve stems..... don't think it's a nail as it didn't go flat right after the first time... took at least 6 weeks tp go flat.

don't think so

We have a pretty good neighborhood... no riff raff ( except me of course;) ) I don't think anyone would mess with my truck.

I took the cheasey plastic valve stem extender off and put on a steel cap... not leaking so far!

I'm gonna take it to Cumming Henderson this weekend and get new steel stems put on.

I had the same problems you described... finally fixed it with a Stainless Steel Valve stem. The new rims I just purchased last week had some already on there from ALCOA... . I hope I dont have to order those when one goes bad, if it goes bad!! You cant go wrong with steel valve stems!
